Boyne Valley Shortlisted in the Top 10 for Foodie Destinations 2018

It is an exciting time for the Boyne Valley as we’ve been shortlisted again as a top 10 finalist in the Foodie Destinations awards 2018. It is an award Discover Boyne Valley Flavours ( is very familiar with having won the overall Foodie Destination award in 2016 and being runner up in 2017. Foodie Destinations is an initiative by the Restaurants Association of Ireland which celebrates Ireland’s unique and wonderful food offerings and encourages local food tourism initiatives across the country.

Voting for the award is now open to the public on until Tuesday 21st August. So, if you love buying local or have attended one of our Boyne Valley Food Series events, your vote could help bring the title back home to the Boyne Valley.

Bronagh Conlon, Chairperson of Discover Boyne Valley Flavours said, “It’s a testament to the team behind Discover Boyne Valley Flavours and the collaborative work of all the local producers, venues and event organisers, that for the third year running the Boyne Valley has been shortlisted for the award. This is our first year under our new brand and it has given us the scope to grow existing initiatives such as the Boyne Valley Food Series but also to introduce new ones like Boyne Valley Bites. It is fantastic to see our work being recognised.”

In August the region will be visited by the Foodie Destination judges who will get to meet local producers, experience the amazing produce and learn more about the area and Discover Boyne Valley Flavours. The judging process focuses on seven key areas – unique visitor experience, local knowledge and participation, local producers, promotion, festivals and community events, the prospect of future projects and education and training – which is what Discover Boyne Valley Flavours is all about. The overall winner of Foodie Destinations 2018 will be announced at an event at the end of August.
